| Code of Conduct for Canoeing on the River Dart |
- Canoeists must canoe on the River Dart (“The River") in a proper safe and sporting manner and they must be properly equipped and be capable of canoeing the river safely having regard to the state and condition of the water at the time of canoeing.
- Canoeists shall take every care to avoid damage or disturbance to the River to the banks thereof and the land giving access thereto and to this end (save for genuine danger or difficulty) all canoeists whilst using the River shall not remove their canoes from the water or attempt to tow them upstream to repeat the descent of any particular stretch of river .
- Canoeists' vehicles shall be parked so as to cause no obstruction or annoyance to other users or adjoining residents and shall be driven with due care and consideration to the other people living or enjoying the Dartmoor National Park whether they be on the highway or nearby.
- Canoeists shall ensure that they or their helpers whether changing clothes or otherwise avoid causing unreasonable offence disturbance or annoyance to all other persons and avoid leaving litter.
- Canoeists using the River shall only leave or enter the River at the permitted access and egress points at Dartmeet, Newbridge and Waterworks Bridge, Holne Totnes Weir, Totnes.
- Canoeists shall not leave canoes or other craft moored in the River when not in use but at such time to take them ashore at the permitted access and exit points.
